Just a couple of hours. It should be just enough to greet you with warmth and sunshine right after leaving the plane door. Here’s our top exotic destinations for Autumn.

Dubai

Let’s start BIG! How about the biggest city of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai. It is a popular destination with marvelous weather guaranteed. Actually, visiting Dubai in Autumn might be more pleasant than in Summer, as temperatures are within 25 – 30°C compared to 45°C. Dubai is a modern metropolis with skyscrapers, huge shopping malls, and lots of entertainment. One of the most visited places is Burj Khalifa, as it is one of the tallest buildings in the World. Palm Jumeirah is definitely worth mentioning, there are not many places like this palm tree-shaped island. It offers excellent hotels and leisure by the way.

Dubai can also please the more adventurous visitors with outdoor activities such as setting a desert camp or going on an off-road trip. If water sports are of more interest to you, then we recommend going to Jumeirah or Kite Beach. Those who want to delve into its history can explore Dubai’s oldest district – Deira. It is quite worth visiting The Spice Souk while exploring Deira as well. Another old district, Al Fahidi, will satisfy those who like to enjoy architectural and cultural monuments. Souvenirs, highly recommended fabric, can be bought on the Textile Souk. An Abra Ride across the Dubai Creek would serve as a perfect way to finish the day.

Morocco is a delight to the senses, especially Marrakesh. The “Red City”, as it is commonly known due to its architectural style, has a lot to offer. The most important landmark without a doubt is Jemaa el-Fnaa, which is one of the best-known squares in Africa and is the center of city activity and trade. It is especially glorious after dark when it comes to life after hot, lazy days. Marrakesh is also famous for souks, roughly translating to thematical markets. You can buy literally everything but remember to always haggle, you are expected to do so. The historical city centre, Medina, is surrounded by walls. Here the most important monuments are located, including El Badi and Bahia palaces as well as The Saadian Tombs – built in XVI century.

One of the most popular attractions is The Kutubiyya Mosque, although entry is only available to Muslims the beautiful building and a 77 meter-high minaret tower make it equally worth seeing. All that sightseeing can be tiring, which is why Marrakesh has places you can just relax in. Local cuisine consists of fresh ingredients that are rich in flavour and is available in multiple restaurants. Taking a walk in the beautiful Majorelle Garden grants you a peaceful experience, with a couple of surprises such as an Yves Saint Laurent museum within the garden’s grounds. It’s worth mentioning that Marrakesh is a very convenient base for those who would like to explore the Atlas Mountains.

Larnaca

On the southern shores of Cyprus is Larnaca, a city very inviting to tourism, which might be off-putting during Summer. However, as crowded as it might be in season, Autumn brings relief to the city, leaving it quiet and charming for those who would like to get to know its less known side. Larnaca offers quite a historical journey, with monuments such as the Church of Saint Lazarus, Hala Sultan Tekke, and the Kamares Aqueduct. There are more, with Fort of Larnaca being one of the most important. Delving into its history can be completed by visiting a couple of museums, most notably: Larnaca District Archeological Museum or Pierides Museum.

It is worth it to take a walk through the city, just to explore the architecture and local habits. The neighborhood of Skala displays examples of local traditional architecture. The Finikoudes Beach and Promenade are full of cafes and shops. Another of the multiple beautiful beaches is Mackenzie Beach. However, there are four lakes, commonly known as Salt Lake, where you can see flamingos if you wish. Larnaca is definitely for those who want to spend their Autumn trip in a more relaxed and uneventful manner, but cannot be omitted when it comes to choosing the best destinations for such travel.

Last but not least is the fifth-most populous city of Turkey, Antalya. There is a reason it is known as the pearl of the Turkish Riviera. Wide, sandy beaches with excellent infrastructure are a mecca for those who prefer beach sports, water sports, and sunbathing. Lara and Konyaalti districts are the most recommended districts for such activities. However, Antalya is not only beaches, one could go to the Kaleici district to explore the city centre, where monumental defense walls still tower over the streets. Hadrian’s Gate is the only remaining entrance gate in these walls and it was built around the year 130. One of the bigger monuments here is Minaret Yivli, measuring 38 meters.

Leaving the city centre and visiting Antalya’s port will get you closer to Hidirlik Kulesi tower, which is a sight to behold. Historical features are not all, Antalya offers a great variety of attractions, one of which is an astonishing Umbrella Street. With colorful umbrellas hanging mid-air, creating a rainbow-like exhibition, the street might be one of the most romantic, yet joyful sights. On the other hand, a large park – Karaalioğlu Park – within the city centre is a peaceful retreat from traffic and noise full of greenery and playgrounds. Antalya might be just the trick if you are after variety and action. Water sports combined with urban experience in a beautiful weather package seem like a no-brainer for the more active visitors.
